BIO

Jorge Hernández joined the firm in May 2014 and became an associate in January 2018. In March 2023, he was promoted to senior associate.

He has a good understanding of mining industry and provides strategic legal advice to both national and foreign companies on the acquisition of mining concessions in Mexico, and the compliance of obligations under Mexican Law and other related regulations.

He practices in mining law and has accumulated experience in other related and specialized areas of practice such as corporate, agrarian, hydrological, environmental, migratory, agreements, due diligence, joint ventures, and the litigation of administrative, commercial, criminal and amparo matters.

He is authorized by the Government of the State of Chihuahua to act as a certified translator English – Spanish – English.

RELEVANT MATTERS

  • Alamos Gold Inc

Headed the drafting and execution of several construction and services agreements for the start of operations of “La Yaqui Grande” mine, wholly owned by Alamos Gold Inc., and located in Sonora, Mexico. All payments agreed by the parties in such operation amounted will almost reach USD 145,000,000.00.

  • GoGold Resources Inc

Participated actively in the due diligence process and drafted agreements needed for the acquisition of “Los Ricos Property” by GoGold Inc., located in Jalisco, Mexico, which included 29 mining claims and 22,000 hectares. All payments agreed by the parties in such operation amounted almost reached USD 1,440 million dollars.

Conducted restructuring of several agrarian operations in order to acquire the necessary surface for the mining activities. These operations had a value of more than USD 1,500,000.00.

Headed the criminal investigation and trial to recover certain mining cores obtained from the drilling performed in the “Allende y Matamoros Project” by GoGold Inc., which were essential for its mining activities and had an estimated value of USD 250,000.00.

Headed the obtention and renewal of an Explosives Permit for “El Tigre” mining unit, which allowed the company to start its exploitation activities.

  • Grupo Coanzamex, S.A. de C.V.

Completed the necessary actions before the competent military authorities to obtain an explosive permit for Grupo Coanzamex S.A. de C.V., which was required by such company for the expansion of its mining plant located in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico.

  • Sonoran Desert Copper Corp

Conducted the due diligence process needed for the option acquisition of the exploration rights over the property and an irrevocable option to acquire 100% of the ownership of the “Cuatro Hermanos Project” by Sonoran Desert Copper Corp., located in Sonora, México, and comprised by 10 mining claims. The option value amounted to almost USD 6,000000.00

Headed several constitutional and administrative trials to recover mining claims, and other procedures aimed to protect assets of mining companies.
