Publication of Minimum Wages for 2019 in Official Gazette of the Federation

Dear Clients and Friends,

As we pointed out in our last Legal Alert, the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) published on December 26th, 2018, the Resolution of the National Minimum Wages Commission (CONASAMI) that sets the general and professional minimum wages in force as of January 1st, 2019.

The resolution determines that the main purpose of the MIR (Independent Amount of Recovery) is help recover the worker’s purchasing power.

However, the MIR should not be used as a reference to set increases in other salaries of the Mexican labor market.

The Resolution establishes that the country is divided into two geographical areas for the application of the general and professional minimum wages, mainly:

The creation of the geographical area called “Free Zone of the Northern Border” (ZLFN) and the 43 municipalities that make it up. The general minimum wage effective as of January 1st, 2019 in the ZLFN will be $ 176.72 pesos per day.
The general minimum wage effective as of January 1st, 2019 in the rest of the municipalities of the country will be $ 102.68 pesos per day.
In the following link you can consult the list of minimum professional salaries for the 59 professions, trades and special jobs, which will be valid as of January 1st, 2019 throughout the Mexican Republic.
