Uniform Regulation for Several Chapters of the USMCA Published Yesterday

Dear Clients and Friends,

Yesterday, July 9, the Ministry of Economy published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the agreement regarding the Uniform Regulations for the interpretation, application, and administration of several chapters of the USMCA that were pending regulation (“Agreement”), as reported in our legal alert of June 30.

These chapters are the following:

Chapter 4 – Rules of Origin
Chapter 5 – Origin Procedures
Chapter 6 – Textile and Apparel Goods
Chapter 7 – Customs Administration and Trade Facilitation

The Agreement, which will enter into force today, July 10, specifies in its Second Transitional Article, that the Uniform Regulations shall take effect as from the entry into force of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), that is, as of July 1st.
