On January 15 of this year, a decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, reforming, adding, and repealing various provisions of the:
- General Law for Equality between Women and Men.
- General Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence.
- National Code of Civil and Family Procedures.
- Federal Law on State Employees, Regulating Section B) of Article 123 of the Constitution.
- General Law on Social Development.
- General Law on Health.
- General Law on Education.
- Social Security Law.
- Migration Law.
- General Law on the Rights of Children and Adolescents.
- Law on the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers.
- Planning Law.
- Housing Law.
- Federal Labor Law.
- Federal Copyright Law.
- Federal Law on Industrial Property Protection.
- General Law on Culture and Cultural Rights.
All of the above laws were amended to strengthen substantive equality between women and men and guarantee a life free of violence for women, girls, and adolescents.
The name of the “General Law for Substantive Equality between Women and Men” and the “General Law on Women’s Access to a Life Free of Violence” have been changed.
The creation of public policies with a gender perspective has been reinforced.
National programs and strategic projects to address inequality gaps are being promoted.
All authorities are required to apply reinforced protection duties and to act with a gender perspective in justice, health, education, housing, migration, and labor.
In the area of labor, equal pay and a violence-free environment are promoted, and employers are required to train their staff to prevent and eliminate violence against women.
