Dear Clients and Friends,

On December 1st, 2022, the National Commission on Minimum Wages, which integrates the government, employers, and employees, reached an agreement and unanimously determined a 20% total increase to the minimum wage for 2023.

In accordance with the above and starting on January 1st, the minimum wage will increase from $172.87 MXN per day to $207.44 MXN per day. This increase comprises the following: a 10% increase because of inflation plus $15.72 MXN corresponding to the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR, per its acronym in Spanish).

Regarding the general minimum wage in the Free Zone of the Northern Border, the increase will be from $260.34 MXN to $312.41 MXN. This increase comprises the following: a 10% increase because of inflation plus $23.67 MXN corresponding to the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR).

The Professional Minimum Wage will also have a 20% increase starting on January 1st, 2023.

All the above will be published in the Federal Official Gazette over the coming days.
