The National Commission on Minimum Wages determined the following increases, effective as of January 1st, 2019:
General Minimum Wage (exclusively):
A daily increase in the amount of $9.43 (nine pesos 43/100) Mexican Pesos, through the increase of the Independent Recovery Amount (MIR, per its acronym in Spanish).
An additional increase of 5%.
Therefore, the new daily General Minimum Wage is $102.68 (one hundred two 68/100) Mexican Pesos.
Professional minimum wages:
Only increased by 5%.
“Northern Border Free Zone”:
Minimum wage of $176.72 (one hundred seventy-six 72/100) Mexican Pesos.
The “Northern Border Free Zone” includes the following Municipalities:
Baja California: Ensenada, Playas de Rosarito, Tijuana, Tecate y Mexicali.
Sonora: San Luis Río Colorado, Puerto Peñasco, Gral. Plutarco Elías Calles, Caborca, Altar, Saric, Nogales, Santa Cruz, Cananea, Naco y Agua Prieta.
Chihuahua: Jano, Ascensión, Juárez, Praxedis, G. Guerrero, Guadalupe, Coyame de Sotol, Ojinaga y Manuel Benavides.
Coahuila: Ocampo, Acuña, Zaragoza, Jimenez, Piedras Negras, Nava, Guerrero e Hidalgo.
Nuevo Leon: Anáhuac.
Tamaulipas: Nuevo Laredo, Guerrero, Mier, Miguel Alemán, Camargo, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Reynosa, Rio Bravo, Valle Hermoso y Matamoros.
